Was Jesus such a great guy after all?

Hi all, I'm not great on dogma and diatribe and won't be quoting any scriptures because I don't "believe".

But the internal logic of the book ( in its new testament version as in the old) is flawed. God is supposedly "love" but that love only extends to " the chosen". That is precisely the logic of the WTS and its adherents, or of the people of the Book etc.

Jesus was not a Santa Claus type figure, God certainly was not. A patriarchal , nationalistic , exclusive religion could hardly give birth to a universal God of "love". These things only seem troubling if we look at them from a 21 Century hippy altruistic point of view whereby we tend to naively think everything should be "fair" and want the Jesus figure to morph into a good fairy sort of character.

So no, he was not such a good guy - who said he was?

Depression and disassociation

just a brief question, is any one on the site actually qualified to deal with issues of depression and other non pyschotic mental problems?

if so would they help without being directly asked ( very unlikely is someone is depressed )?

Thank you for your welcome and the sage advice about not seeking therapy or counselling over the internet. Fortunately for me I was not referring to myself but to my husband who has been posting on this site for several years.

It only increases his mania to the point where he does not sleep or take care of himself and behaves like an addict desperate for a fix if I happen to need to use my computer for any reason ( including work! ) and he cannot log on. In his euphoric state his eyes glaze over and the attention of strangers is so important to him that he is willing to bare the most tender wounds of his family ( and claim them as his own) to public scrutiny, wily nily, to feed his fix.

Just spare a thought next time you all put in your two cents worth. Once a thought , and its manifestations words or actions, have been released into the world it cannot be taken back.

After training as a teacher and working with children for several years you learn to spot the attention seeker for whom any attention is good attention. Do good - feel good - just make sure you are doing good.
